How APR Is Determined
APR (Annual Percentage Rate) is a standardized way to express the yearly cost of credit. Your APR depends on factors such as the loan amount, the length of your term, the finance charge, and underwriting results.
On shorter installment terms, interest and fees are spread over fewer months. When that cost is stated as an annual rate, APR can look high even when the total dollars you pay differ from a longer loan. That does not change your scheduled payment amount; it is how annualization works.
We do not publish a single site-wide APR on this page. Your exact APR is disclosed in your loan agreement and related Truth-in-Lending disclosures before you sign. For help reading those numbers, see how to read your loan agreement.
Fee Schedule
| Fee | Amount | When it may apply |
|---|---|---|
| Late fee | $20 | After a payment is more than 5 days past due |
| NSF / returned payment fee | $30 | When a payment is returned unpaid (for example, insufficient funds) |
| Early payoff penalty | $0 | No early payoff penalty when you give 3 business days’ notice |
| Real-Time Funding from Minto Money | $0 | When RTF is offered on weekday approvals before 14:00 CT; your bank may still charge its own fees |
Always review your agreement for fees that apply to your offer. If you expect trouble making a payment, contact Customer Care early—see steps if you can’t make a payment and tips to avoid NSF fees on ACH payments.
Early Payoff Policy
You may pay off your loan early. There is no early payoff penalty when you provide 3 business days’ notice. Paying early can reduce remaining interest because finance charges stop accruing once the balance is paid in full under your agreement.
Before you send a payoff, ask Customer Care for a written payoff quote so you know the exact amount and timing. Our article on early payoff savings walks through how paying ahead can lower total cost.
State Availability
Minto Money is not available in all states. Availability can change. Confirm current availability before you apply. If you have questions about whether we lend where you live, contact Customer Care using the details on our contact page.
Non-Discrimination Statement (ECOA)
Minto Money complies with the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. We do not discriminate against credit applicants on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age (provided the applicant has the capacity to enter into a binding contract), because all or part of the applicant’s income derives from any public assistance program, or because the applicant has in good faith exercised any right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act.
Cost FAQ
Why does APR look high on a short-term loan?
APR annualizes cost. On shorter installment terms, fees and interest can make APR appear high even when total dollar cost differs from a longer loan. Your agreement shows the APR that applies to you. Compare the finance charge and payment schedule—not only the APR percentage—when you decide whether to borrow.
What happens if a payment is late or returned?
A late fee of $20 may apply after 5 days past due. A returned or NSF payment may incur a $30 fee. Contact Customer Care or Past-due support if you expect a problem so you can discuss options before extra fees stack up.
Does paying early lower my total cost?
Yes, paying off early with the required 3 business days’ notice can reduce remaining interest because there is no early payoff penalty from us. Ask Customer Care for a payoff quote before you pay so you send the correct amount.
